Platelet rich plasma (PRP)PRP is developed from the patient’s own (autologous) blood. It is therefore inherently safe and free of risk from transmitted diseases such as HIV or hepatitis. The concentration of platelets within PRP delivers an increased number of growth factors in biologically determined ratios. This distinguishes PRP from recombinant (non-native) growth factors. Additionally, PRP is different to fibrin glues as it contains the same concentration of cell adhesion molecules as normal blood.
