Regen Lab biotechnologies in Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery

RegenKit-BCT and RegenKit-THT are innovative technologies for the preparation of autologous Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to treat patients with cartilage diseases (knee and hip osteoarthritis)(1-12), tendinopathies (13-20) and muscle damages (21,22). In addition, the ground-breaking CellularMatrix A-CP-HA device has been specifically designed for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (1,23-26).

RegenKit PRP represents a valid autologous therapy to be used during orthopaedic surgery for ligament, tendon and cartilage reconstruction (27-30).
Bone Marrow Cell Concentrate, prepared with RegenExtracell BMC kit, either alone or in combination with PRP, is effective and represents a valid alternative to traditional tissue engineering techniques for the treatment of bone defects (31-35).

Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine

RegenKit PRP is used for treatments of cartilage diseases, including knee and hip osteoarthritis (OA), arthropathies, hemophilic and osteochondral lesions. The treatment is effective in reducing pain and improving function, so that active people can return to physical activity (1-12).

Clinical data show that intra-articular PRP+HA injections prepared with CellularMatrix devices are effective for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with great improvement of pre-treatment symptoms, which include mainly articular pain, joint stiffness and limited joint function (1,23-26).

Intra-lesional and peritendinous injections of PRP, prepared with RegenKits, show significant positive effects (decreased pain, improved functionality), including on patients refractory to conventional treatments, on different types of tendinopathies such as epicondylitis (18), patellar tendinopathies (13-14), tendon tears (15-16), insertional (14-17) and non-insertional tendinopathies (20) of the Achilles tendon and various other enthesopathies (elbow, greater trochanter, plantar fascia) (19).

Intra-muscular RegenKit PRP injections improve recovery of exercise induced damages (21-22). 

Orthopaedic Surgery

RegenKit PRP represents a valid autologous therapy to be used during orthopaedic surgery for ligament, tendon and cartilage reconstruction (27-30).

Bone Marrow Cell Concentrate (BMC) treatments, prepared with RegenExtracell BMC kits, were shown to result in successful healing rate (79-100%) of bone defects, even in complex indications (severe bone defects, wide cavity, osteonecrosis, post-traumatic pseudoarthrosis) (31-35).
