What is A-PRP® ?

Platelets are key factors in hard and soft tissue repair mechanisms 1. They provide essential growth factors, such as FGF, PDGF, TGF-ß, EGF, VEGF, IGF, which are involved in stem cell migration,
differentiation and proliferation. Additionally, platelets also stimulate fibroblasts and endothelial cells to induce new extracellular matrix deposition and neo-vascularisation respectively.

Plasma contains many factors essential for cell survival including nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes, growth factors (such as IGF and HGF), and proteins. Among the plasma proteins, the molecules vital for the coagulation process and for the fibrin polymer formation will serve as a scaffold for cell migration and new tissue generation.

Androgenetic Alopecia

A-PRP injections are simple and efficient, have minimal adverse effects with a low cost-to-benefit ratio and can be regarded a valuable alternative for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. 2-6

Results showed that a significant increase in the rate of hair growth was observed between the 3rd and 6th months. Hair density followed a rising trend with a remarkable peak at 3 months. Patients with II-III grade of alopecia had better results compared to patients with more advanced alopecia. 3

Alopecia Areata

In a pilot study, which is the first to investigate the effects of A-PRP on alopecia areata (AA), A-PRP was shown to significantly increase hair regrowth, to decrease hair dystrophy, burning and itching and to increase cell proliferation compared to a reference treatment. 7 First evidence of A-PRP efficacy on acute and chronic AA was shown on a number of patients who were not responsive to standard treatments. Hair regrowth started 2 months after A-PRP treatment and continued up to 10 months. 8

A-PRP® is an excellent option for women of childbearing age and for patients who cannot benefit from other hair loss therapies.3

Hair Transplant

A-PRP stimulates and supports hair growth after Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in three main steps:

1-Promoting vascularity to the hair root thereby increasing viability to the follicle before, during and after hair transplantation

2-Promoting tissue repair and regeneration post transplantation 

3-Stimulating dormant hair follicles and growing new hair

Skin Texture & Elasticity
A-PRP increases revascularisation, neo-callagenesis, tone, skin thickness and elasticity. It can be used as a standalone treatment or as a multi-treatment protocol combining technologies such as fractional laser, LED, chemical peels, dermal fillers, dermabrasion etc.6
Fibroblast proliferation is increased in the A-PRP group. This results in a doubling of the amount of collagen available within the extracellular matrix.3

The Patient’s Platelet-Rich Plasma stimulates cells to regenerate the skin’s connective tissue, resulting in accelerated healing post laser and chemical peels. It also improves the elasticity, tone and thickness of the skin and contributes to the remodelling of collagen fibres. 4-5
Examination of treated regions with A-PRP show new collagen formation, revascularisation, Glycosaminoglycans augmentation and anti-oxidant effect.6
